It has been a long time. For the first time in 4 years I was able to play with paints over the last week. I use to have 'pictures' in my head and I loved drawing them out onto paper. I am not an excellent drawer or painter, but love to see the end results.
What is going on in this pic? Well, my 'picture' was of two hands coming down surrounding a harvesting bowl (sorry, can't recall what it is called, but it was used to seperate the wheat from the chaff in the grain process). I feel as if God is desiring to sift us, so I am thinking that is what this pic is about. However, when I looked at this painting as I was copying it to this page, it took on a whole lot of other things.
What do you see?
Living a simple life...don't we all want that? Well maybe we don't because we have no idea what it really should even look like. Join me and lets talk about it and learn what it truely is to live a simple life in our very complex world!
Can we live a simple life in a complex world? I put my trust in a God who I believe desires that for each of us. In fact, I know he does. He does for me, he will for you. He wants to show you joy in the small intricate things...the tiny minute things, the very personal "only you could know" things.
I would love for you to travel with me...to see Him, to find hope and peace and joy and life in the now.
Come along, join me, and lets run home together.

Resting
I am listening to a song. The lyrics say, "you have washed my feet in mercy, you died for me that I might live, I am so in love, I just cant get enough, your all I'm look for, your all I'm wanting God." Maybe if I listen to it a 100 times it will sink in and I will connect even more to my Jesus? It helps me melt into God when I listen to it, and I do, over and over.
To me, when I stop, ponder and listen to the still smallness in my life, I find rest, hope, joy, peace, satisfaction, Jesus.
May you find rest in the still smallness, a savior that loves you. Peace be still. How have you found rest for your soul?

Purity
As I sit here writing, looking out my window at the snow gently falling from the sky, this verse comes to mind again and again. How can we be made whiter then snow? And, what does cleansing look like for you? What has God brought you through to help you understand his purifying process?
Psalm 51:7
Psalm 51:7
- Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

Faithfulness
A favorite hymm is always nice to find. This is one of mine.
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father! There is no shadow of turning with Thee; Thou changest not; Thy compassions, they fail not: As thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest, sun, moon and stars in their courses above, join with all nature in manifold witness to Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth, thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide, strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow—blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside.
Chorus: Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see; all I have needed Thy hand hath provided—Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me.
What are your thoughts on this hymm?

Sleep
I am tired. It was a long long day, yet I am loving seeing joy in this day. I started out finding I had just enough rest to enjoy snuggling with my heating blanket. I know that sounds sort of silly, but if you are single you will understand.
I had some busy moments once I did get to work, from rolling out cinnamon rolls to making 32 salmon salad sandwiches to whipping up some lovely apple dip for snack this afternoon. But, in-between those most busy times were moments of insight, or in my case, sparkly spots. A simple conversation with one of the student staff about his morning devotion, to catching up with a few of the other staff, to trying a new miracle seed that is suppose to solve all my body's problems (one sure could hope such a 'fountain of youth' exists).
I was tired before I got off work and then I heading up to Canada to have dinner with one friend and help another friend pack. But the time with both my friends, the other friend and her family, and my other new friends all helping her pack, was like singing Handel's Messiah song in perfect tune along side a full orchestra and choir.
Tired yes, but blessed beyond believe. Sleep tonight is going to be good.
How have you seen God at work in you day? It can be very simple. Please do respond, it is always amazing to hear God stories.

Bathed
Today was a good day for a bath. No, I didn't have time this morning to get up and take one, an actually, I have a shower, so that just couldn't happen. You are probably thinking I may be refering to the lovely wet soggy weather...did I do any bathing that way? No, nope, didn't do any puddle splashing, however I know a whole lot of muddy little children who did.
For the first time in a long time I did some "word bathing". I found this awesome little devise I used to record my trip across the country about 2 years ago. I took around 15 key verses I have been contemplating on and spoke them out onto my little recorder. It was awesome, I have been listening to it over and over and over again. I really am not good at memorization, and I really don't have a photographic memory like my 22 year old son. So over and over is the best way for me. After a few days of listening to the same verses over and over, I feel as if I have been washed, bathed, and mellowed. It reminds me of listening to a great relaxing piano piece...it just quiets me and sort of mesmerizes me. So, it brings me back to keeping things simple, and singular.
How have you been able to bath today, I pray you will find Gods bathing in your life.

Simple
I love simple. I want all the simple the world has to offer. Wait though, does it? My blog is called, "Living a simple life in a complex world", so I am going to try and stay focused on the facts, the world does not offer simple.
What is it that keeps you in the simple? For myself, it is focusing on seeing God. I love looking at all the tiny little things he shows me every single day. Such as, a 2 year old telling me thank you for lunch, and who is just learning to say a full sentence such as, "Thank you miss Bobbi for a very yummy lunch." It takes them a lot of processing to get out those very simple words, but boy do they smile when they have accomplished it.
I would love to hear what living the simple life looks like to you. Maybe you can post a simple truth about a bit of joy you have experienced. Please post when you have a minute. Oh, and do keep it simple.
